Time is flying by and with two weeks remaining until the FGHS Memorial Scholarship Benefit Golf Tournament there is still time to help. You can help in two ways. One we continue to have a great need for individuals, groups, or businesses to step forward and provide financial support by sponsoring a golf hole. Golf hole sponsorship is the very “heart and soul” of our golf tournament and the tournament does provide a major part of our annual financial support to the FGHS Memorial Scholarship. Every dollar that goes toward the support of a golf hole goes to the scholarship. There are no fees, charges, or other expenses deducted from it. If there are those out there who might be reading this and would like to support a group of kids from Tolsia High School, a small school of just under 500 students, located in a very rural part or Wayne County, West Virginia in their efforts to obtain a higher education then let us know about it.
The Shrine of North America has a motto that is as follows; “A man never stood so tall as when he stooped to help a child”. I surely wish that had never been taken because support of the FGHS Memorial Scholarship does just that, lifting up and providing opportunities for kids with financial needs in the area of education.
I mentioned early on that there were two ways that individuals, groups, and businesses can help and the second way is to organize and bring a golf team, sign in as an individual and let us assign a golf team, or if you are a business you might choose a team from your employees and sponsor them in the tournament.
It is a great tournament being played for a great cause at an outstanding golf course, Eagle Ridge, Louisa, Kentucky. The tournament is being held on Friday, September 2, 2011. It will be a scramble and will begin a 8 am on Friday morning. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
So, whichever means of support you choose, it is a win-win situation for the kids it benefits. For additional information, you may contact Joe Damron, Route 1, Box 613, Fort Gay, WV 25514. You may reach Joe by phone at 304 648 7265.
